Overview

Prosthodontics focuses on the rehabilitation of patients with missing or damaged teeth through crowns, bridges, dentures, and implants. It plays a crucial role in restorative dentistry, allowing practitioners to restore patients’ oral function, aesthetics, and comfort. As demand for advanced restorative procedures increases, prosthodontists are needed to provide high-quality, comprehensive care for patients with missing teeth, severe tooth wear, or congenital abnormalities. This programme prepares clinicians to meet these challenges by providing a firm theoretical background, employing advanced techniques and evidence-based approaches, ultimately elevating their practice to a specialist level.

Clinical Skills

The Masters programme offers dental practitioners the opportunity to:

  • a deep understanding of disease pathogenesis of patients presenting with missing or damaged teeth, their diagnosis and management using a range of options
  • apply theoretical knowledge in a simulated clinical setting before transitioning to supervised clinical care
  • Gain competency and confidence under the direct supervision of expert faculty ensuring delivery of care to a specialist level.
Beyond Clinical Skills

In addition to comprehensive prosthodontic training, the programme develops and fosters the wider no- technical professional capabilities required of a Specialist, including:

  • Clinical research methodology and critical appraisal
  • Communication and patient interaction
  • Self awareness and reflection
  • Leadership and clinical/ practice management

The curriculum is aligned with GDC guidelines, providing assurance that all key components are covered appropriately.

By the end of the programme, participants will be able to:

  • Accurately assess, diagnose and manage the full spectrum of prosthodontic issues including the replacement of missing teeth
