This introductory level 1 foundation course in facial aesthetics with botulinum toxin using cadavers provides participants with a unique learning experience. Delivered by experts in the field, participants will be taken through a structured approach covering pharmacology, indications, anatomy, legalities and fundamental principles and concepts when considering such procedures, including patient consultation. The practical aspects will use live demonstration with cadavers, giving participants a unique experience with an interactive discussion on the management of complications and consent. The course is suitable for new and experienced clinicians and is CPD certified, meeting both GDC and GMC learning outcomes. It can also be used as a stepping stone to progress to the next level in facial aesthetics.

Our one-day introductory course on botulinum toxin takes the participant through a journey of understanding the pharmacology, indications and legalities of using botulinum toxin. The anatomy and practical applications will be explained using live interactive discussion and demonstrations using cadavers. Our experts will provide participants with real life examples and tips on avoiding pitfalls ensuring successful outcomes, minimising risk with practical training using live models focusing on the forehead, glabella and periorbital (“crows feet”). The management of complications will also be covered, with participants being encouraged to actively engage in discussions.
Participants will have ample opportunity throughout the day to engage in discussion and debate with experts who will deliver the course, getting first hand experience of how to start out.

Since qualifying as a dentist in 1986 I have exclusively worked in the hospital Macillofacial service. Following my medical degree and basic surgical training I undertook higher surgical training on the West of Scotland rotation finishing in 2001. Since then I have worked as a Consultant in Maxillofacial Surgery with a subspeciality interest in the surgical treatment of Head and Neck malignancy/ reconstruction and the surgical treatment of facial skin malignancy prior to retiring from NHS practice in 2003. I have worked in the field of Aesthetic Medicine for the last 14 years gaining experience in the use of botulinum toxin, dermal fillers and thread lifting and continue to work in this area.
