Quality Assurance & Governance
Quality Assurance
At the College of Medicine and Dentistry, quality assurance is at the heart of our commitment to academic excellence, student success, and continuous improvement. We uphold the highest standards in teaching, learning, and institutional operations to ensure that our students receive a relevant, distinctive and connected education.
Our Approach to Quality
We implement a comprehensive Quality Assurance (QA) framework that aligns with national accreditation requirements and international best practices. This includes:
- Curriculum Design and Review
Academic programmes undergo regular evaluation and revision to ensure they meet current industry needs, academic standards, and student expectations. - Faculty Excellence
Our faculty are qualified professionals committed to lifelong learning and pedagogical innovation. Continuous professional development is a cornerstone of our QA strategy. - Student Feedback and Engagement
We actively gather feedback from students to assess and improve the quality of teaching, support services, and campus experience. - Internal and External Reviews
Internal quality reviews and external validations help us maintain compliance and promote a culture of accountability and transparency. - Data-Driven Improvement
Institutional data and performance indicators guide decision-making and strategic planning, ensuring we remain agile and responsive to evolving educational demands.
Commitment to Continuous Improvement
Quality assurance is not a one-time effort—it is an ongoing process embedded in every aspect of our operations. Through stakeholder involvement, innovation, and evidence-based practices, we strive to exceed expectations and empower our students to thrive in a global environment.
Governance
At the College, our commitment to academic excellence is driven by a framework of robust and effective governance. Quality assurance is not a standalone function—it is embedded in the structures, decision-making processes, and leadership responsibilities that guide every aspect of our operations.
Our Governance Framework
Our quality assurance and enhancement approach is underpinned by a robust governance structure, aligned with the Independent Higher Education (IHE) Code of Governance and guided by the Public Interest Governance Principles. Oversight of academic quality and standards is ensured through several key bodies:
- Academic Council
The primary authority on all academic matters, responsible for academic strategy, programme development, and review of student outcomes. - Teaching, Enhancement and Quality Committee (TEQC)
Focused on maintaining academic standards, reviewing assessment processes, acting on student feedback, and promoting teaching excellence across all programmes. - Programme Boards
Responsible for ensuring the quality and relevance of individual programmes, monitoring student performance, and initiating improvements based on feedback and academic review. - Staff-Student Liaison Committee
A forum led by students that facilitates meaningful dialogue between staff and students, ensuring student voices are heard and acted upon. - Research Impact Committee
Ensures continuous improvement in research quality and strategy, supporting academic development and student research engagement.
